The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a "community-led environmental conservation organization" founded in 1977. We continue to conduct research to deepen our understanding of chimpanzees and other great apes, while working with people around the world to conserve the natural environment and protect wild animals that we share. Currently, JGI has bases in over 30 countries, and our youth-led environmental activities and learning program, Roots & Shoots, have blossomed in over 100 regions. These young people are growing into leaders who will improve their local communities. The distinctive feature of our activities is that they are rooted in the community. When each person solves the problems close to them, the accumulated efforts will become a great force, leading to a peaceful world where "people", "animals" and "nature" coexist. Action creates hope, and hope creates action. Yes, each and every one of us can bring about change.
